I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine

About Christian Marriages

We learn the most about Christian marriages when we seek God’s design instead of our ideas. Couples often consider happiness the primary motive for marriage. They think how someone makes them feel to justify their reasons for a relationship. These feelings can be new, beautiful, and exciting but many marriages crumble when these feelings begin to fade.

The reality is that marriage provides many happy moments and equally challenging moments for each couple. You age, economic status, how long you dated or didn’t date won’t offer you any guarantees from hardship. When humans cohabitate, there is always going to be misunderstandings, growth, unexpected trials, and frustrating expectations. Just consider the traditional vows,

“I, ___, take thee, ___, to be my wedded husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge myself to you.”

When couples commit to marriage, they are embarking on an unknown voyage. Often they commit to arriving at their destination with little to no preparation. No matter who you are or how many anniversaries you’ve celebrated, there are storms in life that can leave your marriage shipwrecked. It is essential to anchor yourself in the Word of God to avoid these disasters.
