So Then Faith Cometh by Hearing,

and Hearing by the Word of God.

What is Faith?

The dictionary says that faith is complete trust and confidence in someone or something. The Bible says that Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is the essential ingredient to a relationship with God.

Where does Faith come from?

Faith does not come from ourselves, or others, faith is a gift from God. Ephesians 2: 8-9 tells us, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

How do I get more Faith?

In Romans 10:17 we are reminded that we must go to the Word of God if we desire to see our faith increase. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

Do I need Faith?

The Scriptures tell us that without Faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11: 6 But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith in God brings each of us into a unique and personal relationship with God. Below you’ll find journal entries and notes of my faith and spiritual growth. It’s my prayer that these notes are an encouragement to you.

Hope When it Hurts

Hope When it Hurts

There are times in life when it would be easier to accept our circumstances rather than Hope when it hurts. The pain of our current reality can make us lose sight of eternity. Exhaustion causes us to stumble as we take the next step in faith. It's often impossible to...

God makes provision for my tomorrow’s, today

God makes provision for my tomorrow’s, today

God makes provision for my tomorrow's, today. I have seen this Truth woven into my life, but none so evident as when we lived off the grid near Yosemite National Park. It was 2006 when Joe decided it was best to move the family back up to the California mountains to...

Proverbs 7: 1-2

Proverbs 7: 1-2

Proverbs 7: 1-2 reminds us that we are wise to perform life checks when we ask ourselves, "Is His Law the apple of our eye?" It is so easy to get caught up in the busy of life, to become completely enveloped in the news around us that we forget to focus. Focus our...

Comparison- The Thief of Joy

Comparison- The Thief of Joy

Comparison, it may be a good skill when we're shopping for the best price on avocados, but it's not so good when we're comparing our lives, loved ones, or experiences to others. In fact, my son in law, Jacob, reminded me of this quote from one of my favorite men to...

Ease of Idolatry

Ease of Idolatry

I knew that today would be full of "do this and do that" so I purposed to wake early and spend time with the Lord. It was through my Bible reading that I kept pondering the ease of idolatry in my own life. It all started as I began my reading about King Hezekiah....

Joy Comes In The Morning

Joy Comes In The Morning

Joy comes in the morning, but that doesn't mean this morning or tomorrow morning.   Psalm 30: 5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.   Have you ever waited for morning to...

On The Other Side of Heartbreak

On The Other Side of Heartbreak

I've been thinking about heartbreak lately, not for any specific reason. Maybe it was the news of Kate Spade's death or the fact that a friend confided in me that she wants to end her life. Perhaps it's the fact that every year, here in the US, almost 45,000 people...

Worldview, Community, and Coffee

Worldview, Community, and Coffee

Can we change someone's worldview? Yes. Maybe. Kinda. Sorta. I sat in the line at the coffee shop this afternoon. Their espresso machine must be down again because the wait is longer than normal. Suddenly, I noticed that my truck started to rock from side to side, not...

Rest- Finding Grace in the Wilderness

Rest- Finding Grace in the Wilderness

Are you longing for rest? Have you ever felt alone even though you're in the midst of many? I know I have. This last week, my husband and I waited in the Starbuck's line. He asked, "Have you ever felt alone or is that something only shy people experience?" I replied...
